Based in Lower Hutt, Blue River Baby are a powerhouse New Zealand six-piece originals band. A uniquely wondrous infusion of festive Wellington soul, psychedelic rock, rhythm and blues, funk and ska.

It’s hard to keep your eyes off energetic lead singer Ivy Padilla, who cuts up the stage both physically and vocally, while the band rip into the grooves.

Originally formed in 2016 BRB are drawn from current and ex-members of Whole Lotta Led, Southside of Bombay, My Golden Soul, Julie Lamb Band, Roger Fox, The Deville Brothers and Circa Improvisors.
Ivy Padilla also sang the main role in Miss Saigon, and features in Ghost in the shell and Mortal Engines.

They were awarded 3rd equal place at the National 2017 NZ Battle of the Bands, with a “best drummer” prize for Jason Hotton.

BRBB have just finished the of recording their debut album with Lee Prebble at The Surgery studios in Newtown. Lee has worked with the likes of The Blackseeds, Dave Dobbyn, The Phoenix Foundation, The Nudge, Trinity Roots and many other solid bands and soloists.

They were also given the privilege of headlining the main stage at Nelson’s New Year’s Eve countdown 2018 – 2019
